new bedford whalers
After two successful seasons in the RISMA Conference, the Whalers are making the transition to AYF to expand opportunities for all children in New Bedford and surrounding communities, including those who may not have traditionally been able to participate in youth football. Blackstone Valley’s unique age- and grade-based program allows athletes to compete with their peers from school and their own neighborhoods, creating a familiar and supportive team environment. With a strong tradition in football and cheerleading, Blackstone Valley has seen success at the New England Regional and National levels, providing an exciting and competitive experience for players and cheer squads alike.
The Whalers organization has always been committed to making football and cheer accessible to all youth in New Bedford. By joining AYF, even more children—ages 5 to 15—from New Bedford and surrounding towns can now take part.
A Whalers spokesperson emphasized that the successful merger of the Wildcats and Broncos from the Greater New Bedford Football League was a major step forward, and this move to AYF marks another milestone in expanding football and cheer opportunities for more local children.
